Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Papirer ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Papirer is a personal expense tracking application that allows you to record, categorize, and analyze your spending through voice, text, and photo inputs. The App uses artificial intelligence to process your inputs and may offer premium features through paid subscriptions.

3. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the App
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Rent, lease, lend, sell, or sublicense the App
  • Use the App to develop competing products
  • Remove any proprietary notices from the App

4. User Accounts

To use the App, you must create an account using your email address or through Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate and complete information
  • Maintaining the security of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of all content you submit to the App, including transaction data, images, and voice recordings. By using the App, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to:

  • Process, store, and display your content to provide the service
  • Use your corrections and preferences to improve AI accuracy for your account
  • Share your content with third-party processors as described in our Privacy Policy

You are solely responsible for your content and represent that you have all necessary rights to submit it.

6. Shared Lists and Collaborative Features

The App allows you to create shared expense lists with other users. When using shared features:

  • You may only invite people who have consented to receive invitations
  • Shared transaction data is visible to all list members
  • List owners can remove members and manage permissions
  • We are not responsible for disputes between list members

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any illegal purpose or to violate any laws
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App or servers
  • Upload malicious content, viruses, or harmful code
  • Use the App to harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Use automated systems or bots to access the App
  • Circumvent any access restrictions or usage limits

8. Subscriptions and Payments

Some features require a paid subscription ("Papirer Pro"). By subscribing:

  • Payment is processed through the Apple App Store
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your device's account settings
  • Prices may vary by region and are subject to change with notice

The free tier provides core functionality with certain limitations. Premium features are clearly marked in the App.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital content purchases. By starting to use Papirer Pro immediately after purchase, you consent to the immediate provision of the service and acknowledge that you waive your right of withdrawal. You may still request a refund through Apple according to their refund policies.

9. Refunds

All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store. Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple according to their refund policies. We do not have the ability to process refunds directly.

10. AI Processing and Accuracy

The App uses artificial intelligence to process voice recordings, receipt images, and text inputs. While we strive for accuracy:

  • AI processing may occasionally produce errors or inaccuracies
  • You are responsible for reviewing and correcting any AI-generated data
  • The App is not a substitute for professional financial, tax, or legal advice
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content

11. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, features, content, and underlying technology, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. The Papirer name, logo, and related marks are our trademarks. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights to our intellectual property except the limited license described above.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

15. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, your license to use the App ends immediately. You may delete your account at any time through the App settings.

16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Madrid, Spain. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.

17. Dispute Resolution

Before initiating any legal action, you agree to first contact us at hello@papirer.com to attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will try to resolve any issue within 30 days.

18. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the App.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

20. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Papirer regarding your use of the App.
