How to export your data and manage privacy settings

Your data is yours. Papirer is designed to give you full control over your information: what's stored, how it's used, and what you can do with it.

Privacy mode
If you're in a public place or simply don't want your numbers visible, you can enable privacy mode from the main menu. All amounts (balance, expenses, goals, recurring) are hidden and replaced with dots. Descriptions, categories, and dates remain visible.
To turn it off, go back to the menu or tap the eye icon in the header. Your preference is remembered between sessions.
Exporting your data
You can export your transactions at any time from the Reports screen. Tap the export icon in the top-right corner and the export assistant will open.

Period
You can choose from several preset ranges or define a custom one:
- This month
- Last month
- 3 months
- 6 months
- This year
- 1 year
- All time
- Custom (with date picker)
Filters
On top of the period, you can apply optional filters to refine your export:
- Transaction type — All, expenses only, or income only
- Categories — Select specific categories (Pro)
- Amount range — Minimum and maximum (Pro)
- List — All, personal only, or shared only (Pro)
Once configured, tap Export and your device's share sheet will open so you can save or send the file.
What's included in the export?
- Date and time of each transaction
- Amount and currency
- Description
- Category
- Type (expense or income)
- Shared list (if applicable)
App permissions
Papirer may request access to:

None of these permissions are required. The app only asks when you try to use the corresponding feature, and you can revoke them at any time.
Managing permissions
From the app:
- Go to Settings > Permissions
- Tap any permission to see its status or change it
From the system:
- Open your device's Settings app
- Find Papirer
- Manage permissions
Deleting your account
If you want to permanently delete your account and all your data:
- Go to Account from the menu
- Scroll to the bottom
- Tap Delete account
- Confirm the action in the dialog
This action cannot be undone. The following will be permanently deleted:
- All your transactions
- Custom categories
- Configured goals
- Recurring expenses
- Shared lists you created
- Your user account
Resetting data
If you want to start fresh without losing your account:
- Go to Account from the menu
- Scroll to the bottom
- Tap Reset data
- Confirm the action
This deletes all transactions and categories but keeps your account, settings, and active subscription.
Data security
Where is my data stored?
Your data is stored on secure cloud servers. We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Authentication credentials are stored locally in your device's secure storage.
Is my data shared?
We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data with trusted service providers strictly necessary to operate the app (such as subscription management and error reporting). Your transactions and financial data are never shared. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
The app sends anonymous error reports to help us detect and fix technical issues. These do not include any of your transaction data.
Are my usage habits tracked?
No. Papirer does not use analytics or behavioral tracking tools. We collect anonymous error reports to detect and fix technical issues, but these do not include your transaction data or personal information.
Can I use the app without an account?
No. An account is required to sync data between devices and access features like shared lists. You can sign up with your email (code-based authentication) or with your Apple account.
