Use another currency

When you arrive

Papirer can notice a time-zone change and offer to record in the local currency. Accept the suggestion or keep your usual currency. Detection does not cover every trip: countries can share a time zone.

With travel mode active, an amount without a currency uses the destination's currency. In Japan, “ramen 1200” means yen. If you explicitly name a currency, Papirer uses that instead.

Keep the original

The entry is saved in your account currency alongside the original amount and currency. Check both when there is a conversion. The equivalent may differ from your bank's charge because of its rate or fees.

If conversion fails, retry or correct the entry when prompted. A pending result does not mean it has been successfully saved.

Return to your usual currency

Open the travel indicator to see the current currency and switch back manually. Papirer can also end the trip when it detects your return. This does not change your account currency or rewrite history.

Do not change the account currency for each trip. Existing history restricts that change, which is not a conversion of past records. For a single foreign-currency expense, simply include its currency in the entry.
